History
Bateau Bateau was born in 2017 out of a desire to focus on ecological and sustainable products. I started by creating grow with me clothing for children, in order to offer parents quality clothing, handmade in Quebec, that could be worn for a long time.
In the summer of 2018, I developed a new product, unique in the world, which today is the primary raison d’être of Bateau Bateau: sets of washable tissues of unequaled softness, presented in a pretty box with a basket to toss them in until the next washing. All to promote ease of use, which doesn’t disrupt our lifestyle too much.
Indeed, after numerous tests to find the perfect tissue material, the count, the size, and the box and basket have all been designed to be as similar as possible to how we use disposable tissues. In keeping with this, I made the decision not to hem or overlock the edges of the tissues, both for ecologoical and economical reasons, and to keep a look comparable to the disposable tissues to which we are accustomed.
Just days after launching these sets on the market, there was already demand for pouches for carrying the tissues; a product added to Bateau Bateau’s lineup a few months later. Today, more than 70,000 of our tissues have been sold, and our products can be found in myriad zero-waste boutiques and supermarkets throughout Quebec.
